We've signed up to be "Harbor Host" in Atlantic Canada

Downeast Cruising Loop Burgee

Here's a brief "recap" on where we are now.

We are Gold Loppers! It took us just over a year to complete our Loop - from 11 July 2018 to 27 July 2019 in our Coronet Seafarer. It was truly one of the best experience and adventure we've had so far in our life. The places we've seen and visited, the people we've met and become friends with have enriched our life as we could not have imagined before.

Now that we have settled back into a dirt home, we've decided to become "Harbor Host". I don't know how many fellow AGLCA members are planning on doing the "Down East Cruisers' Loop" in the future, but just so you all know, we are located in Dieppe, New Brunswick, a short drive away from the Northumberland Strait. If we can help in any way, please reach out to us, we'll be happy to assist if possible or try to find someone who can!

Resources in development:

Here is a quick glance/peek at the information/website links I am starting to compile to create a guide for our area. (I am still very much in the beginning stages, and I suspect it will evolve quite a bit.)

Maritime Boating is a great place to start looking for information. You'll find the following information and more.
SALTSCAPES "Canada's East Coast Magazine"
  • Doting on Boating  "Adventures on the water remain etched in the memory for years to come — here, a rough guide to navigating Atlantic Canada’s coasts, and inland waterways."
Discover Boating Canada has articles on popular destinations in the Maritimes. Articles written by boaters, for boaters.
  • Northumberland Strait  "Delineated roughly by a line from Point Escuminac, N.B. to Cape North, P.E.I. on the western end and from Inverness, Nova Scotia to East Point PEI on the east, the Northumberland Strait has a length ..."
  • Cape Breton, Nova Scotia  "The waterways of Cape Breton Island are enchanting and there is so much to see. Cape Breton has a delightful mix of boating experiences, from river boating on the Mira River; sailing on the Bras d’..."
  • Historic Coastal Nova Scotia  "Coast of Nova Scotia Steeped in History. Home to some of the Maritime's most majestic lighthouses and the region's largest metropolitan center, a cruise along the coast of Nova Scotia is sure to be a highlight of any boater's log."

  • Eastern Shore, Nova Scotia  "The Eastern Shore offers wonderful opportunities for sailing in pristine wild and natural environments. Offshore island chains feature hidden gems like crescent white sand beaches and bird ..."

  • South Shore, Nova Scotia  "Gold rushes and capitals: Going by boat from Lunenburg to the LaHave River is a historic journey. Despite a few small well-marked hazards in Lunenburg Bay, Long Shoal and the aptly named Shingles, once you are on the ..."
  • St. John River, New Brunswick  "St. John River: A well-kept secret. Scorching hot in summer. Cooling fog from the Bay of Fundy stops at Evandale. "
New Brunswick boaters is another site with information, but this one is specific to NB.
  • Where To Anchor And Eat In New Brunswick "Finding the best place to anchor for a bite to eat is one of the most satisfying things that a boater can do. These locations are among New Brunswick’s best for all types of water activities, and offer stunning moorages where you can drop anchor and enjoy a meal on or by the water. If you haven’t gone boating to any of these waterways, be prepared for some serious travel inspiration!"
